Alain Bellino was born in Nice, Italy in 1955. In the 80’s, he discovered the world of metal and ornamentation in his father’s workshop. There he learned gold and silver plating as well as bronze restoration. After 25 years of practice and technical research dedicated to rehabilitating and recomposing objects his artistic journey began.
Ornaments torn from their original support become the very structure of his sculptures. The bronze adornments are the base material assembled via extremely precise welding. Weighted with the nobility of the metal joined to their own history, they support a fragmented memory. Bringing to the sculptor precious direction as well as constraint these memories are made whole in the present.
Bellino gets special inspiration from classical sceneries of the renaissance period, vanitas are one of his favorite themes. In his work of redirecting and reassembling, from a formal point of view at the crossroads of past and future, the artist sublimates and rejuvenates.
